Xbox 360: Cracking open an Xbox 360 Elite

Great read over at TechRepublic on cracking open the Xbox 360 Elite and the modificaitons made to the system from prior versions.

Most of us think that the Elite is nothing different than our current stuff, with a bigger hard drive. Couldn't be more wrong...

Xbox 360: Xbox to give away free game

SEATTLE — Microsoft Corp. said Friday it will give Xbox 360 owners a free video game to make up for poor performance over the holidays by the system's online hub.

Gamers log on to the Xbox Live Web site to buy games, television shows and movies to load onto their consoles, and interact with other players.

Video game blogs such as Joystiq recently reported that users had a slew of problems with the site over the holidays, including trouble signing in, downloading media and getting matched with online opponents.

"We are disappointed in our performance," wrote Marc Whitten, general manager of Xbox Live, on the Xbox 360 support Web site.

Whitten said record-breaking traffic and new-member sign-ups caused the "intermittent Xbox Live issues."

Microsoft, which says it has sold more than 17.7 million Xbox 360 consoles since the system's November 2005 debut, bulked up its capacity for gamers on Xbox Live both before the release of the wildly popular "Halo 3" and ahead of the holiday season.

The software maker did not publicly detail the problems Xbox users faced or the steps it has taken to fix the issues.

Whitten said the company will give a free game from the Xbox Live Arcade, but did not say which titles will be chosen, or when.

Xbox Live is having issues, if the gamercards are not showing properly, don't panic. They will be back once the issues are resolved.

You will also notice a delay with any feeds from the Xbox Live site, including statistical updates, refreshes and the sort.

For those who are XBOX360 online players, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 has just been released this month and its better than ever.

It’s 2014, and the soldier of the future returns to encounter a new and more imminent threat along the recently completed wall on the U.S.-Mexico border. The Ghosts are more powerful with an upgraded Integrated Warfighter System (IWS) but will have only 72 hours to assess the threat and stop the rebels from reaching U.S. soil.

With a border that's 1,900 miles long and an enemy that doesn’t play by the rules, this is a job for the U.S. military’s most elite fighting unit. This is a job for the Ghosts.

Also For the Gears of War players, There are alot of Online tournaments that offer $5000 to the winners so get your shit in gear and practice cause you might have a chance at that kind of scratch. Also if SFX members are interested there is a Teamwarfare GOW league they can enter.

Whats up peeps just a few bits of news for you. SFX has opened its Xbox 360 forums for those who play Xbox 360 online. Just go in and drop your Gametag and hook up with the rest of the SFX. *In other news SFX would like to welcome its 2 new members, Hotvette and Strega. Welcome to the crew guys.
